Providing professional and experienced guided walking on Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis

About Me

Ben Nevis Guide is run by myself, Ken Applegate. I am based in Fort William year round and spend much of my free time climbing and mountaineering in the Lochaber area. I am a full member of the Association of Mountain Instructors and hold the Mountain Instructor Award (MIA) and Winter Mountain Leader Award (WML). I have also completed my International Mountain Leader Summer Training (IML) and Mountain Instructor Certificate training (MIC), the highest instructional mountain qualification for the UK.

I have worked as a contracted instructor for Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre, World Challenge Expeditions, Outlook Expedition, The Outward Bound Trust, Ryan Glass Mountaineering, Abacus Mountaineering and West Coast Mountain Guides.

I am a keen and active trekker, climber and mountaineer, enjoying mountaineering in all it's forms, from bouldering to traditional climbing and from winter climbing to alpine climbing. Seeking these adventures have taken me abroad on many occasions to countries such as China, Mongolia, India, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, France and Spain.
